Kevin Quick

Kevin Quick has enjoyed the piano for as long as he can remember. He began playing popular songs, complete with left-hand accompaniment, while in Kindergarten. He played cornet, baritone, and French horn in grade school, junior high, and high school bands and orchestras. Throughout his childhood and college years, he studied classical piano. For the past thirty years, however, his greatest challenges and pleasures in music have stemmed from his incessant exploration of musical possibilities through free improvisation. His debut album, "Tears of Love," is a product of his thirty-year relationship with the piano.

In early 1995, Kevin's musical life took a major inspirational turn when he met and fell in love with his soon-to-be bride, Kathleen. During the ensuing spring and summer months, he found his heart flooded with new-found joy, deep reflection, and, quite naturally, profound musical inspiration. "Tears of Love" was born during this exhilarating time, and was molded and crafted into its final form throughout the following year.

Following the release of "Tears of Love" in November, 1996, Kevin continued his musical explorations with the help of some new tools. An Apple Macintosh enthusiast since 1985 (and in 1991 and 1992 a full-time Macintosh software developer), Kevin began using his computer skills to compose and arrange orchestral accompaniments to his piano music. With the computer controlling a Kurzweil K2500X sampling synthesizer, Kevin was now able to create music with all the orchestral fullness that he'd been hearing in his head for many years.

While honing his compositional skills (and teaching himself to play the drums) throughout 1996 and 1997, his recent marriage to Kathleen continued to provide Kevin with powerful musical inspiration. These elements all combined to produce his second album, "Always," which was released in April, 1998.
